Monday's Game 9/17

In this exciting game, full of playoff implications, the Twins will host the Texas Rangers in the first of a three-game series. Don't I wish that was the first sentence for this game's preview? Well, nonetheless, Kevin Slowey (3-0, 5.44) will start in place of Boof Bonser against Edinson Volquez (2-1, 4.24). Slowey will be making his ninth start of the season, and 11th appearance overall. Don't expect to see him out there too long though, as he has only pitched six innings three times in a game, and never more than that. Hopefully, the offense will be up to the task against a pitcher making just his 4th start (and appearance) of the year, and playing in the 17th game of his career. 8:10 CST start. I'll be waiting anxiously to see if the Twins can snap their four game losing streak opposite a team that actually has a worse record.
