I was reading through my copy of the 2008 Bill James Handbook, and thought it would be interesting to share his projections for what right now would be the Twins' opening day lineup.
C Joe Mauer .320/.409/.472
1B Justin Morneau .283/.355/.522
2B Brendan Harris .276/.336/.420
3B Mike Lamb .279/.347/.432
SS Adam Everett .246/.295/.348
LF Delmon Young .301/.331/.446
CF Craig Monroe* .249/.302/.421
RF Michael Cuddyer .275/.356/.454
DH Jason Kubel .276/.339/.456
*I only used Monroe at center because James doesn't list a projection for Jason Pridie.
James projects Mauer, Morneau, and Cuddyer to all improve upon their disappointing performances in 2007, with Mauer expected to make an especially big jump. Young is projected to improve upon his rookie campaign as well, while Lamb, Harris, Kubel, Everett, and Monroe are expected to produce around the same level as last season.
And, by the way, the last two paragraphs of this article in the Strib made me very happy.
