  1. Isn't that a little unfair to Brian Buscher? He only had five at bats. And look at Nick Blackburn's horrible strikeout rate. It's only a matter of time for him until all those balls in play start falling in.

  2. Yes, it is a little unfair to Buscher, especially considering his 2 walks, but he's been awful all season (.608 OPS, 68 OPS+, .288 wOBA--pick any stat you want) and the Hot-Cold list seemed a little empty.

And I considered Blackburn's bad strikeout rate and almost chose Liriano for the spot, but Blackburn's other numbers are good (2.40 BB/9, .221 oppAvg, etc.). Also, for Hot-Cold I do not take into account chances for continued success, simply how they did over the last 14 days (for pitchers). Blackburn was certainly aided by a .223 BABIP over that span, and his FIP of 4.41 shows he's likely to regress, but he managed to outrun it for these two weeks (and really all season), so he makes the list.

  4. I would comment but I can't get over the fact that Twins on Twins loaded for me yet my email wouldn't... I just second what Twin #2 said.
