Friday's Game 9/21

With just ten games left in the season, the Twins have a tough road to .500, with three games against the White Sox and Tigers and a four games series with Boston to end the year. With a record of 75-77 right now, the Twins must go 6-4 over their last ten to reach .500, and 7-3 to finish with a winning record. Hopefully, tonight will be the first step in that direction, as Johan Santana (15-12, 3.14) takes the mound against Mark Buehrle (9-9, 3.55). Santana has been especially good against the White Sox this year, going 3-0 with a 2.05 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts in 22 innings spread over three starts.

As a final little note, Forbes announced this year’s list of the 400 richest Americans on Wednesday, and our very own Carl Pohlad made the list. Pohlad is the 119th richest person in America, with his assets totaling 3.1 billion dollars. Once again, he is the wealthiest owner in baseball, followed by Wayne Huizenga (Florida) and Michael Ilitch (Detroit). Interestingly, George Steinbrenner only comes in tied for fourth with the Rangers’ Tom Hicks, with a fortune of 1.3 billion dollars, well under half of the size of Pohlad’s wallet.
