On the surface, Delmon Young has played pretty well over the past month. He's hit .284 in the month of June, and even has 4 doubles and a home run. That's not great, but before that he was hitting .239 and had only 1 double and one home run.
Of course, as is often the case with Young, you don't have to dig too deep to see he hasn't been very good at all. While he's been better than he was in April and May, he's still been awful. What's most remarkable, even for Delmon, is that he hasn't walked since May 28th--a span of 78 plate appearances! Over that same time, he's struck out 26 times.
That's how, since May 30th, Young has raised his batting average 20 points, from .236 to .256, yet still has exactly the same on base percentage as he had on that day: .281.
