What? Johan Santana trade rumors?! I haven't seen any of those lately! (Note sarcasm). Reports now indicate that the Twins will be making a decision in the next few days, although we've certainly heard similar things about eighty-seven times already this offseason. According to ESPN.com, the Twins have asked for final and best offers from the teams interested in Santana. Unfortunately, best offers may not be much with the Yankees seemingly becoming less interested every hour and the Red Sox taking Jon Lester off the table (even if I wasn't all that high on him in the first place).
By dragging the talks on for a duration of time equal to 1/54th of my entire life, Bill Smith has removed any fun that I originally had scouring the internet for rumors about what might happen. Now, I don't fault him for this, as obviously he is trying to do what's best for the organization, but I just have to say that, rather than excitement or depression I will simply be feeling relieved when Santana is finally dealt. That is, of course, assuming he's not traded for something like Phil Hughes, Robinson Cano, Melky Cabrera, and Joba Chamberlain, or, on the other hand, Coco Crisp and J.D. Drew.

Looks like he's headed to the Mets. Thoughts? Seems like a pretty mediocre package.
ReplyDelete"Mediocre" is being too kind in regards to that package.
