Now, obviously, it's a long way before the start of both the real and fantasy baseball season. But to pass the long months until then (and because I was eliminated from competition in both of my legitimate fantasy football leagues today), I have joined a fantasy baseball mock draft through the Baseball Blogger's Alliance.
We'll be drafting for a standard 5x5 rotisserie league. There are 14 teams and we'll be going through 16 rounds, enough to draft 9 position players and 7 pitchers. Each pick can last as many as 8 hours, so it could take a while. Of course, it also may go much faster. Depending on how quickly it goes, I'll be updating here on my selections. Jeff Furtah, of BleacherGM.com, is running the draft and will be providing updates throughout the process.

Rooting for the Clothes - Episode 1: 8/24 Twins Update
We've just finished our inaugural podcast, which is called Rooting for the Clothes. In it we discuss a wide range of topics relating to the Twins current situation, including the likelihood of the Twins trading Jim Thome, the chances that Deolis Guerra makes an appearance in Minnesota in September, and the spate of injuries that has plagued the Twins all season. It ran a little long at about 50 minutes--and as a result file size issues required that this episode be split into two parts--but in the future we aim to definitely cap it at 30 minutes. As with posting, we'll probably just do one whenever we feel like it, so there's no set schedule. This whole process is a trial-by-error, and we hope to improve things as we go along. For now, though, enjoy the first episode!
You can follow the podcast directly at this link. We also hope to have it available on iTunes shortly.

Finally!
My computer has at long last arrived, and it feels pretty awesome. I'd like to put a picture of it online, but I don't have a camera and my computer can't take a picture of itself, so we'll see if that happens. Right now I'm in the process of transferring all my old files and programs onto the computer, and that should be done today or tomorrow, at which point blogging will finally become a regular pattern again. I still don't expect to be writing daily, with the offseason generally having little action, but you can certainly expect more volume than in the past month or two. Not from Twin #2, though; he has no excuse other than laziness.
And the more relevant news to the baseball world is that Zack Greinke won the AL Cy Young, and it wasn't close at all. Congratulations to him and to the baseball writers for getting this one right on the button.

New Computer
After a lot of stalling and laziness, I've finally purchased a new computer. And it's a Twins computer! Unfortunately, that also means I have to wait a little while for it to be delivered. I also have some work to do, so postings may be as few as they have been (i.e.: non-existent) until it arrives, which will probably coincide with Thanksgiving break. You'll want to come back then, though, as the season recap will begin in earnest.

Blog Housekeeping
I'll be pretty busy with work and other things for the rest of this week, this weekend, and probably all the way through Monday. Since this coincides with the end of the Twins season, and thus the end of a long string of blogging, it makes a good time for a break. I may do some quick things over that period, but otherwise anticipate the year-in-review material to start sometime next week.

Lack of Blogging
Sorry for the inactivity, but my computer has shut itself down and won't come back on, which makes it much more difficult to continue blogging. I'll try to do what I can at the library and what not, but I may be light on content until I can get it working again.
And it's not like the Twins are really inspiring me to get back to this, either.

Sidebar
I don't know why the Twins scoreboard display has been replaced by the Red Sox, but I'm looking into it. It may just be something with Blogger since the ESPN headlines are also not displaying exactly the way I set them to. Just wanted to let everyone know I'm aware of the problem.

New site design!
So I decided I was getting tired of this blog's appearance and thus was looking at different templates to use. Upon doing so, I realized I picked out just about the worst template available. It's pretty boring and I don't know what that star and random number at the top are supposed to be.
Anyhow, I've looked at some, but due to the fact that they all look like considerable upgrades to me, I can't decide which is best. Please look at them and leave your comments. Keep in mind that I can change all the font colors and such, so consider the layout, design, background colors and text style most.

Edit (5:32 PM): I guess you can only see those previews if you're me... so I'll see if I can put them as pictures in case someone actually does try to view them (unlikely though).

A New Series
In searching for things to write about to wrap up the season, I came upon this idea (remember, I'm basically working under the umbrella that the season ended last week). When each player leaves the Twins, it'd be interesting to write a post devoted solely to them and their career with the Twins. Over the next few days (or weeks), I'll be writing one for each player that was on the team in 2008 and will not be returning this year. There are actually quite a few, despite the fact that the Twins are the only team to have, as of yet, not added a player to their major league roster this offseason.
Sorry, R.A. Dickey, you don't count.

Happy Holidays!
There hasn't been a post up for over a week, and that's because pretty much nothing has happened involving the Twins since they signed Mike Lamb last Friday. I finished up my first semester at Georgetown and Twin #1 finished those last couple essays for Amherst as time expired (quite literally). I haven't finished reading the Mitchell Report yet. Actually, to be honest, I haven't even started. I had only been home for 4 days total (for Thanksgiving) before this break, so I hadn't had any time to catch up with my high school friends or my family, which is what I 've been taking time to do now. If the Twins make any move (no matter how small), you can expect some sort of post, but if it remains quiet as it's been for the last week, there may not be anything new until after the New Year. Happy holidays everyone!

Tuesday's Game 9/18
Because of the length of the last post and a few announcements, I decided to put Tuesday's preview as a new entry. As you may have noticed, there is a new feature on the right side of the page, the game ball. Each game it will be awarded to the player who gave the Twins the best chance to win the game. Also, Twin #2 has officially joined the team and will be posting in the future. So if you're tired of my writing, hang in there, for it will change.
In the game, Carlos Silva (11-14, 4.44) will start against Kevin Millwood (9-12, 5.51). In his last start against the Twins, Millwood suffered the loss opposite Johan Santana's 17 strikeout performance by giving up 4 hits, 5 walks, and one earned run in seven innings. The Twins will probably need to do more than that, and hopefully will. I would still really like to see the Twins finish above .500 again this year.
